The SOFC Society of Japan

What is The SOFC Soc. Jpn.?
The SOFC Sociery of Japan is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988, and belongs to the Electrochemical Society of Japan (ECSJ).

The Society has over 115 scientists who hold individual membership, as well as 65 corporations who hold contributing membership in 2007.

The aim of the Society is the encouragemenf of the researches and developments concerning the realization of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power generation in Japan by providing the forum with valuable discussion and dissemination in wide range of knowledges in this field, from fundatmental electrochemistry or high temperature chemistry to stacks and systems.

The Society also contributes to the worldwide exchange of the information on SOFC R & D by organinzing the international symposium on SOFC (co-organized with The Electrochem. Soc. Inc.).
Our Activity
1. The Society organizes annual meetings three times in a year, in which one technical tour is included.

2. The Society is an organizer of the fuel cell Symposium in the ECSJ annual meeting in every spring.

3. The Society holds The Symposium on Solid Oxide Fuel Cells in Japan every December since 1992 in Tokyo. The 15th Symposium was held on Decemper 5th and 6th 2006. The 16th Symposium will be held on December 20th and 21st, 2007.

4. The Society organizes the International Symposium on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell every two years since 1989. From 1991, the symposium is co-organized with The Electrochem. Soc. Inc. The last symposium (SOFC-X) was held in Nara, Japan from June 3 - 8 in 2007. The next Symposium (SOFC-XI) will be held in Wien, Austria from October 4 - 9 in 2009.
